This<\/a> report on a winetasting robot in Japan seems to suggest that the little droid had its wires crossed when it identified someone’s hand as bacon.<\/p>\n

When a reporter’s hand was placed against the robot’s taste sensor, it was identified as prosciutto. A cameraman was mistaken for bacon.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I think the AP reporter is underestimating the talents of a discerning infrared spectrometer. Not that I have sampled, mind you, but it’s my understanding that people are supposed to taste something like pig (we are the other, other white meat).\u00c2\u00a0 Why pig and not chicken or cow, I haven’t a clue.\u00c2\u00a0 But there you go, someday even cannibals will be replaced by robots.<\/p>\n

But, then, technically they wouldn’t be cannibals. Just your average flesh-eating robot. In fact, that’s a bit reassuring. Nobody can eat human flesh like humans can. (Suck it, tigers.)<\/p>\n
