When I was in high school, my buddy used to take us water skiing in the Delaware River.

Wait, let’s qualify that: Attemped<\/em>. My buddy Chris attempted<\/em> to take us water skiing in the Delaware River. For me, at least, it was more like water dragging. <\/p>\n

I was more concerned with what nastiness I may have been swallowing than with what nasty things might swallow me. I’d have been a lot more reluctant to head in the water knowing I was to share space with a sturgeon like this son of a gun.<\/p>\n

OK, this guy may be long-since dead, but apparently Atlantic sturgeon still spawn along the Delaware from Trenton to below the Commodore Barry Bridge<\/a>, which really makes me regret swallowing that water. Apparently they can get up to 14 feet long, but most are around 4-6 feet, with the males usually bigger. (Source<\/a>!) <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
